Hairy Monster Cake

Hairy Monsters

The word monster derives from the Latin word monstrum, meaning "omen", from the root of monere ("to warn") and also meaning "prodigy" or "miracle".

After reading this post on texting by Pioneer Woman I was reminded of my own son who likes to text for me.  My 13 yr old.

Co-workers often text me in the morning to let me know if they aren't coming in or if they're having issues they need to talk to me about...and since I'm driving, I hand my iPhone to my son and dictate what I want him to text in response.

However, he adds his own little flare to the responses.

At first they were confused, but now,
my co-workers know to be on the lookout for his take on things.

He uses texting shorhand...I do not.
I like to spell everything out correctly and use proper punctuation.
I'm a total dork, I know.

Did you know that punctuation was invented in the 1500s?

Anyway, back to my son..
I have to keep an eye on him.
The little pranks he likes to pull on me?
Changing the language on my iPhone to Japanese or Italian.
Or changing my background photo.
or rearranging my apps.

Drives me nuts.

He just needs to know...payback is hell.

Sell-Out Tower?

Near my father's senior living community, there is a large monolithic church steeple-thingy right next to a church.

I always thought it was a little ostentatious.

Well, recently, my dad informed me that the church allegedly has a contract with someone to store a cell phone tower inside of it?  Or something along those lines.

So, my question to you is...sellout?  or smart?

They don't make Yellow Ink in Ireland.

I have this really cool all-in-one HP printer/scanner/copier.
And it takes five colors of ink.

So, when I have to refill and buy new ink, I buy a 5-pack.

And I noticed something odd...
four of the colors are "made in Ireland" and one color is "made in Malaysia."

Yet they all came in the same box.

I can only conclude that they don't make Yellow Ink in Ireland.

Errands with Annie

Annie ran errands with me last weekend.

We went to the bank drive-thru, where they sent her a treat.

Then we went to the Walgreens drive-thru, where they also sent her a treat.

And then we went to Starbucks, where they gave her a "puppy latte."

Annie LOVES running errands with me.

Learning never exhausts the mind. - Leonardo da Vinci

Every clock I own tells a different time.

On purpose.

The alarm clock beside my bed is 3 minutes fast.

The clock in my car is 8 minutes fast.

My watch is 5 minutes fast.

My iPhone is right on time.

It keeps my math skills sharpened.

Egyptian Connection

When my stepfather went to Egypt last month, he brought back souvenirs for my boys.

One of those gifts was some Egyptian money.

And, I just found out, that Remy, my 8 yr old, brought that money to school...
and charged his friends $2 each to see it!!!

Silly Pet Saturday

I haven't participated in Camera Critters in a while,
so here's a photo of a critter who lives in my sister's house.

Lollipop the Chihuahua.

She's tiny, and she fits in a baby doll carriage perfectly.

She hopped up in there all by herself.

Struggling to maintain my fragments

I've been kind of quiet lately.
I'm still here though.

I'm trying to figure out my life.
I've gone deep inside for a look.

I'm looking forward to where I need to go...
and backwards to where I've been.

I've lost a lot along the way,
and I've been feeling very lonely.

And over Easter weekend, I drove to The Woodlands/Houston area to see my two sisters who live there with their families.
I had some wonderful quality time with my boys and a quick visit with my dear family there.

And it made me very happy.

So, I'm trying to emerge from my cocoon whole...but I feel a bit fragmented and confused still.

Bear with me.
