Ever seen Men fighting over Jewelry?

5 Things I've Learned From Watching Lord of the Rings.

1. Hobbits have great heads of hair and huge, hairy feet.  You know what they say about men with big feet.  But, strangely, the Hobbits aren't attractive in a sexy way, more in a aren't they cute, let-me-pet-one-on-the-head sort of way.

2. It takes Giant talking Trees a long time to discuss anything.
But they are awesome fighters when push comes to shove.

3.  There's no Yellow Brick Road in Lord of the Rings.

4. Elves in Middle Earth are kind of sexy.  And they don't make cookies.

5. It's a movie about a bunch of cute guys, who fight really well, fighting over a ring.

Have you seen the trilogy?
Or read it?

Disclaimer:  I've only seen two of the three movies so far.
I plan to watch the third one by the end of the week.

Great take on it! Very colorful and deliciously insightful! According to my sister, who has read the Trilogy and seen the movies, the "Rings" are tarnished now that Avatar reigns!

I've read the books (ok, to be more precise, I read them repeatedly in my youth) and seen the movies (yes, repeatedly) and they just never get old. Of course, the movies made me cry more, but who's counting. And the One Ring cannot be tarnished! Heheh

I've read all three books in the trilogy and also The Hobbit. They are really great books. And I thought the movies were very well done. Although they did ruin Orlando Bloom for me permanently because I no longer find him sexy if he doesn't have pointy ears and long blond hair.

well, some of the hobbits do tend toward the 'welsh caricature' end of the spectrum. but that doesn't make them unsexy....necessarily... and coming from me that's saying a lot, as i tend to be strongly attracted to giant 'willowy' men.

really the least appealing species in middle earth are, in my opinion, all those humans. they are basically just lacking in attributes. poor buggers.

I loved the movie series...the books I could never get into. And you just must be psychic...we are supposed to start watching them today for Katie's homeschool stuff. There are lots of great medieval seiges :-) And she has to read the Hobbit next year for Lit.

I don't believe I've ever read any of the books, or seen the movies. I'm pathetic, eh?

Watched the movie - classic, as far as classic go. Well made end very enjoyable for those (like me) who are real fans of the fantasy genre.

Tried to read the book. Got up to a third of the book. Tolkien just really take his time with writing. Every single item get described and exactly so. Some love him, I find him tedious, but that is just my opinion.

This is probably the only case where I'd rather see the movie than read the book.

I have sadly seen all three several times and have to say, the first time, I love them all. My son became addicted to them thus created this void in my head for ever wanting to see them again.

Great take on it though.
