The Pea Under My Mattress

I haven't been sleeping well lately.

My children have been sick.

It doesn't seem to matter how old they are, when one or both gets sick, I don't sleep well.

I worry.

I've been doing this for over 11 years.

Right now it's my Remy who's sick.

And when he's sick and miserable...the whole house feels it.

But, the worry is not contained to just him.

I lie awake at night trying to figure out what gifts to get which family members...

or how we can work out visiting everyone in the time we have off...

or where I need to plant my money tree...

Are you sitting on a great gift idea?
What's has you worrying?

I feel you. My dad used to sleep at the foot of my bed whenever I was sick, I have asthma and would often get upper respiratory infections. He'd be afraid of me stopping breathing, so he'd lay there all night listening to me. He's still such a light sleeper and even though I'm 25, he always worries and calls repeatedly when I'm sick.

I'm worrying about school, finishing up all my work and getting good grades for the semester, worrying about money for Christmas gifts, and worrying about wedding planning stuff!

Hope Remy feels better soon!

Sorry...no ideas on the gift giving. You already purchased two lanyards (shipping out Friday), so I'm tapped out.

I worry about money constantly.

My main worry right now, as with everyone, is money. Extremely tight right now, and the bills aren't even all getting paid. I've bought gifts for a few of my kids, but not all (my two oldest), and don't know if I'll even be able to.

I worry a lot when my kids are sick...had two home sick yesterday. It's no fun!

Right now everything is pretty darn good in my life. I can't even think of a worry.

I'm giving gift cards this year. Everyone already has so much junk and I don't want to add to it. So that's my gift this year.

Not done with my Christmas shopping and have ZERO presents wrapped-I lay up worrying too!

Hugs to you. Having sick punkins is the worst.

My worry is constant. Of course, it is about money.
And at this time of year, it's worrying about having Santa gifts under the tree AND being able to pay a bill, or two, or three...

I worry about EVERYthing! I only have one gift that is a stumper. Men are hard to buy for when they have just about everything :D

Restaurant.com - 70% off!! Use code: ONLINE $25 certificates for $3!! Also, you can purchase a gift card for Restaurant.com's website and give it as gifts!! You can email the gift or print them out and wrap it up! :-)
I did some of these and purchased over $200.00 of coupons and paid less than $20.00.
Worry, we all do. Especially with $$ being tight to all around. I am sorry Remy is ill. Nessa is dealing with the same thing with her youngest while she is dealing with dental problems.

i'm sorry you aren't sleeping well and that Remy isn't feeling good. :( that sucks. hopefully he will be back to feeling great soon and you will get some rest.

as far as worrying about holiday stuff... i'm there with you. i'm so stressed about it all that i'm almost giving up on thinking about any of it. i just can't do it any more. i'm burnt out.

good luck.

I have no good ideas other than the stuff I make; peanut brittle and other candy. I bought my sister towel b/c that's what she wanted. For kids we did the ball that you roll around and make ice cream in. I think it was a good idea but I don't know if it ever got used.

Gert woke up coughing last night... I hate that when they can't sleep. SHe got a drink and we got her propped up with the humidifier on and that seems to help... I did check on her several more times during the night.

Worrying? About money. About the bills that aren't getting paid...

I tend to be a short term worrier. That is, I don't usually dwell on things too long. I figure God has my back and constantly fretting over things will only cause un-needed stress in my life.

I don't bat a thousand at this, but I'm getting better.

Poor little guy. Hope he feels better soon.

I am the worrier in my house. You name it, I worry about it. Lately my biggest worry has been $$$$. Let me know how that money tree turns out.

I'm sorry your little one is sick! Mine is too. BUMMER!

I worry. To much.

Thanks for the compliment on my scarf! And for stopping by my blog.

I hope you get some sleep!

I feel blessed to say this but right this very minute, not worrying about much. I do worry about my son's safety and this whole living on the edge of mortality where it can be taken away in a heartbeat. But that's a mommy thing that will always be there.

As for gifts, keeping it simple and close to the heart. Homemade goodies. Shopping for the little guy is finished, just gotta get some thing for my hubby. I hope your worry lessens and everyone feels better!!!!

I am worrying about this 12 hour drive, four states away move that's happening in FOUR days. The fates made it so that the movers came TODAY and I'm left with an air mattress, some clothes, toys, paper plates... C'est la vie.

And money. Totally worried about money.

I'm with you on the no sleep, I am THISCLOSE to begging my doctor for some freakin ambien. In the meantime, tequila will just have to do. Kidding, kidding (or am I...).

Oooooo:-( I hope he gets better soon:-)

I worry about everything and tell myself I'm not worrying about it. Hope he feels better soon!

I am not a worrier. Maybe that is why I am the perfect procrastinator.

And I have okay gift ideas for the people in my life. But it's me that I have no suggestions for. Of course that is what spawned the question to you yesterday - "what do I want for Christmas?"

Kat said...

Oh, and my favorite idea is getting all the reusable grocery bags for Michael. I think I have 16 different ones right now...

Tiaras and Tantrums said...

oh I am the queen of worrying -about this, that, the dog, the kids, my brother, the economy, cleaning, the laundry, grocery shopping, the floors not being clean, dog hair, hubs, his job, you name it - it is in my brain when I am trying to sleep!!!!

I try not to worry to awful much. What happens happens, and worrying about it is not gonna get it done any faster or better. Its tough sometimes though. :[

We are NOT done with Christmas shopping.. heck... we haven't really even started. Curtis lost his job a couple months ago and so we are waiting to see if he gets a job here soon.

I constantly worry about my kids getting sick, even when they're healthy!

My shopping is done baby! But I need someone to come wrap all 80+ of them!

Justine :o )

I try not to worry too much about things but I am worrying about my husband not making a decision on whether or not he wants to go see his family on Christmas or not. It's not a hard question honey just figure it out!

I'm worrying about health, and just being done wrapping and getting things shipped.

To all the family and even friends in town. I have some old candle jars I cleaned out, and I have fancy decals I'm putting on them, then putting ribbon candy in them and handing them out.

I also am gonna make about 5 pans of fudge and something called pumpkin dip.

Put vanilla waffers, ginger snaps, graham crackers in little christmas baggie, and put pumpkin dip in a plastic bowl, and fudge on a plate around it and hand it all out. May cost me about 50 bucks to get all the ingredients, but will have gifts for about 10 to 15 people. That's not bad at all.

Aha! Texas is where all this ick is coming from...should have guessed (j/k)! All five kids have been sick, and now hubby is.

I went and had all five kids pictures taken together wearing certain shirts (cough). I went to Wal-Mart and bought really nice, but REALLY cheap frames ($3 for pretty wooden 8x10 frame), and those are Christmas for all the grandparents, aunts & uncles, and close friends.

Poor Remy. Hope he feels better soon. And take care of yourself! Sick mom is no fun on the rest of the fam!

Jen said...

doesn't worry just come with being a mom? I don't remember worring this much until I had kids. Seriously!

Marrdy said...

I think you better get used to worrying about those boys. My oldest is 22 and he is my biggest worry!

Krystyn said...

The worrying never ends, does it?

I don't even know what I'm worried about right now.

The sickie bug is going all around! We had it for the last two weeks and it seems to be clearing. I hope that all are well soon. Keep those fluids up!

Jill said...

I know where you are coming from girl! When mine are sick I sleep inches away from them. Actually I don't sleep. Every little move the make I jump to see if they are okay! I hope Remy feels better! It sucks when your kids are sick. Cheer up girl!

You tell Remy I know how he feels. I've been sick for a week....seriously for 4. I went to Doctor today and got a shot in the rump and 3 different meds!!!

Gift idea: Sun & Moon Jars. They are solar powered LED lights inside a mason jar. Sounds weird but they look great.

Worries? Finding a job next September. Whether I'm doing a good job as a father. The usual.

Adrian's Crazy Life said...

Worries? Yes, I am a worrier. One of the many genetic gifts my mother left me with. What am I worried about? Jobs mostly. My middle son is unemployed and I'm a little worried about my husband and older son's jobs.

I'm also worried about my youngest son - he is being bullied at school almost every day and we can't seem to get it to stop.

I'm also worried that I'm never going to get another best friend. It's been five years now since my last one moved away.

It's nice to have a spot to vent about this stuff. I try to keep the stuff on my blog mostly positive.
