The Art of Illustrations...or my Pantyhose is choking me

As I helped Donny with his homework tonight...wait, let me clarify...I don't help him with his work until he has attempted it on his own and is stuck, then I swoop in to help him work things out, so that he has the FULL learning experience.

Why do I feel the need for disclaimers like that? Because I know people judge. And, I worry too much sometimes. I wear worry like pantyhose, it's hot and a fits too tight, but it's going out of style and I'm ashamed. I want to tear it off, but then I feel bare without it. Naked. Nekkid. neck kid. Weird word.

Ok, moving on.

Anyway, my son Donny was doing a science packet on energy. He's in sixth grade.

Here's the one we had problems with, up close. Our problem? We couldn't tell what the heck that was a picture of?! Can you?

And I swear, this photo is exactly what it looks like on the paper. We didn't mess with it at all. It's blurry and indecipherable. What the heck??

Then Remy, my six year old, drew a picture, his special brand of art work. Now YOU get to figure out what's going on in this picture.

I had to angle the picture sideways to fit it in the scanner. It was an extra-special, wide mutant piece of paper.

It looks like there are cars in the photo. But I wouldn't stress - shoot an email to the teacher and call it good.

The illustration is most definitely aliens shooting laser beams (energy) at each other, right?

Okay Remy's art looks like a dinosaur blowing a fire ball at an alien and the alien is counter-attacking with his own fire.

As for Donny's homwork... WTF?????????? That picture just looks like fuzzy blobs!!!!!!!! Was the teacher on acid when he/she sent it home?

Justine :o )

I was gonna say, Donny's homework looks like...and you know I have a vivid imagination...a car crashing into an electrical pole bursting into flames...I deduced this from the questions above the conglomerated mass of WTF.

My dear sweet Remy..."when is Mommy starting your book, dear?"

{Cool sci-fi sounds in the back ground...the one's little boys can only do...mostly at the dinner table)

Okay, I am back...two Pokemon's battling it out and neither one winning?

{Marlene: making sci-fi sounds in her office and getting weird looks from her co-workers!!)

Donny's homework is a dog catching a frisbee.

Remy's artwork is an alien shooting laser beam at a chicken.

At least that's what they look like to me!

Hmm, that looks like a black and white rainbow in the background, a unicorn leaping through the air, just in time to catch a donut flying by.

I have no idea about the home work, but the artwork is a dinosaur chicken exchanging powers with a flying squirrel.

Looks like a beaked dragon spitting fire at a mutant. The homework picture is indecipherable to me too. I love how you compared worry to wearing pantyhose. :)

"I wear worry like panty hose". That line is classic! I love it. I don't wear pantyhose and I tend not to be a worrier.

But when I do wear pantyhose, the best feeling in the world is peeling those suckers off at the end of the day! Ah!

First thought was two dinosaurs fighting, but when I looked closer I decided it's totally a disembodied head breathing fire at some suburban houses. The fire is probably radioactive as well. Hope that helps Donny.

As for Remy's, well, obviously he saw the same thing and he's drawn a picture of the disembodied head fighting a dinosaur.

Dude, it's HOGGLE!!!!!!!

Totally Hoggle.

Google image that if you don't know who I'm talking about.

The homework looks like a bird being thrown in the air but I read someone's comment above and it does sort of look like a dog catching a frisbee. And the artwork?! That looks like a chicken and a dustbunny duking it out.

I think it is a park next to a road. There are cars in the backgound and a dog in the foreground jumping in the air to catch a frisbee. . .or I could just be seeing things.

Remys does look rather like to pokemon fighting each other with some kind of lazer action. . .maybe the dots indicate he was bounced away and the yellow line is him firing back---who knows! I have girls.

You should have seen me trying to figure out second grade math the other night. Good gravy!!

Good grief. That teacher should have done a better job with the xerox machine!

Oh - and I loathe pantyhose! :-)

It looks like a battle between two pokemons. Yep thats what I am going with

Ummm...did you all not notice that you were not supposed to write on that handout?

Hope4Grace said...

Is this what I have to look forward to in sixth grade? OMG....we're gonna need a tutor..

Susie said...

You got me on the handout:-(

As for your son's, a knight and a fire-breathing dragon. That's my guess.

You and I have been wearing the same pair of pantyhose. ;)
Hmm... that sounds odd too.

Okay, no idea on the assignment item. Email teach for clarification. Remy has some sort of energy transmission brain wave thingy happening.
I dunno.
Maybe it's Bush on one side, and an Army general on the other and they are attempting to figure a new way of understanding each other??
Still dunno.

I see a dog up in the air catching a frisbee.

I'm gonna have to say the "homework" photo rminds me of the atomic bomb going off... and if it is, WHY would they use that horrible piece of history to illustrate incredible energy???

definitely email the teacher!

I think the picture is cars.

As for the artwork - clearly that is a Pokemon type bird shooting various attacks at a beholder type thingie that is shooting yellow and green waves of energy - (see your other child's homework assignment) at the birdlike thing.

Wait...what grade is Donny in? 'Cause I swear that exact question/picture was on my husband's medical boards.

Live.Love.Eat said...

That energy picture.....reminds me of the Predator movies.

Homework: Form of energy is clearly radiation. Everything is glowing so much you can't even see the original item any more.

Artwork: That must be the alien that zapped the homework with radiation.

Looks like a black dog catching a Frisbee in the air. I can clearly see it...

It looks like a fire-breathing chicken to me. Now, I'm going back to read others comments and see just how wacky I am, comparatively.

Um, all I'm seeing is a mouse/rat carrying a platelet .. is that weird?

Okay, and I'm seeing two bad guys of unknown origin .. one with a lazer sword, and one with an energy beam and fire shooting spikes, fighting an epic battle, ledge to ledge.

Reminds me of the pictures my brother used to draw as a kid :o)

I really hope I don't have nightmares about that mouse carrying around my platelets .. that would be trippy.

Krystyn said...

Ummmm....I have no idea what that is! I sure hope that doesn't show up on a state test! Yikes!
