An Elephant and a Camel go into a bar...

Sunday I took my boys to one of those roadside, traveling carnivals. Someone gave us a coupon for a free ticket, so we decided to go check it out. It was a Barnum and Bailey knock off, a Ringling Brothers cheap imitation, but we still had fun.

The minute we walk up to the tents, my boys see something they want...can you guess?

They want the alien. So, that's a picture of the Alien I did NOT buy.

This is a picture of the snow cone I did end up buying, because the tent was so hot we were sweating on top of our sweat.

The high point of the visit was riding the animals available. First up was the camel ride...

Then the elephant ride! Too cool. My boys are in the middle, don't know who all the other people are...

Now, the elephant can sense that I'm looking for good blog material, so it gives me a pose...

Saggy, elephant butt, can't go wrong with that! My boys were on the elephant at the time it did this, and they said they ended up leaning to one side as the elephant shifted its weight. It was a little scary for them, the (big wusses) little darlings. Just kidding!

Now we need a picture of camel butt...

Here's what it looked like in the sweltering hot big top:

As I tried to ignore the flashing subliminal messages they sent to tempt me into eating something bad...

Then the scary clowns arrived...

and they had women doing this...

and poodles that did this (I bet I could teach Annie to do some tricks like this with my kids...)

then the crazy hula hoop woman went all hula hoopy on us...

and finally, we escaped out of the hot tent back to the animals outside.

This llama was chillin' (look at what's in his mouth!)

and this llamabelow needs to visit an orthodontist!!

And, finally, we saw lots of this...

Fun at the circus today!!

What a great perspective of the circus: from the butts of animals.
I tell ya, the circus just ain't what it used to be. Did you read "Water for Elephants" ? Good stuff.

I have a vague childhood memory of sitting in a circus tent, but haven't been since. I do recall riding an elephant at the zoo as a child as well. They don't feel like you would expect...they have prickly hair.

Have you ever had the opportunity to feed a giraffe? If not & you get one, you so have to try it. I swear nothing amused me more at the state fair than feeind the giraffes at the petting zoo.

I second the call to read "Water for Elephants" - great book! You have been prolific in your blogging this weekend...we have been so frenzied that I am just trying to catch my breath.

The only thing I hate worse than scary clowns is icky spiders!

Uberburber - I couldn't resist animal butt pictures! I haven't read Water for Elephants yet but it's on my list of books to read. My mom read it and told me about it some.

Tearese - I rode an elephant once as a child also. They aren't very soft. But they are so cool looking!

Dawn - I have never pet or fed a giraffe. That would be awesome! I saw some in the zoo but wasn't able to get close. That sounds like a cool experience.

Kat - I have the blogging bug. :o)

Scarlet - Icky spiders scare me too. Clowns don't really scare me, but I could see how they could freak someone else out. One of my nieces has a fear of clowns.

Thanks, everyone, for coming by! I appreciate your comments.

Valarie - My boys and I were wondering how happy those animals were in the traveling circus. I just don't know. I hope they're treated well. We're such softies when it comes to animals.

Look at all the different avatars you've had.

I have only had two.

The one I am using now is a pretty good picture of me.

Why do you think TC decided to bomb our blogs with all these comments?

Have you seen Mama Mia yet?

Kat said...

I took my mom and Katie to see it on Monday.

I wonder if one day it will be like the new Rocky Horror.

Kat said...

I want to see it again.

Kat said...

If we go again, it would be the third time.

There is a new version they just released. A sing along.

There is a new version they just released. A sing along.

Kat said...

I know all the words already.

Kat said...

But the atmosphere might be better if everyone else was singing.

Kat said...

I wouldn't feel so strange singing alone.

Kat said...

And I wonder about my voice.

Kat said...

Because no one has ever said it was good. But no one has said to be quiet either. Except the kids.

Kat said...

Does that count?

Am I winning yet?

I want my title back.
